CJPME condemns Israeli requests for Canada to participate in ethnic cleansing of Gaza
Montreal, February 6, 2025 – Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is outraged and alarmed to learn that Israel is pressuring Canada to participate in its plans to force Palestinians out of Gaza, only days after US President Trump announced his intention to permanently expel the population. CJPME insists that any “migration” in this context cannot be considered voluntary but amounts to ethnic cleansing. CJPME urges Prime Minister Trudeau to publicly reject and condemn Israel’s attempts to enlist Canada in its genocidal scheme, and to impose sanctions on any Israeli or US officials contributing or conspiring to depopulate Gaza.Continue readingCanada must oppose Trump plan for ethnic cleansing of Gaza: CJPME
Montreal, February 5, 2025 – Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) urges the Canadian government to condemn in the strongest terms US President Trump’s plans to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people from Gaza. Yesterday, Trump declared that there is no future for Palestinians in Gaza and that the US will “take over” the illegally occupied territory after permanently expelling the population. CJPME argues that this is a clear expression of genocidal intent, and insists that Canada is obliged to consider all means necessary — including sanctions — to protect the people of Gaza from annihilation.Continue reading -

Intended to Fail: Systemic Anti-Palestinian Racism and Canada’s Gaza Temporary Resident Visa Program
This report examines the ways that Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has failed to reunite Canadians with their Palestinian family members stuck in Gaza through the Temporary Resident Visa Program for Gazans (TRV), as Israel wages a plausible genocide and campaign of mass starvation. The TRV program is a special immigration measure launched by IRCC in early 2024 to save family members of Palestinian Canadians subject to a genocidal assault in Gaza. Access the full report here.Continue readingPosition Paper: Leveraging Canada's Arms Trade to End the Violence in Gaza
Israel’s devastating war on Gaza and the routine violence faced by Palestinians under military occupation have produced a catastrophic human toll, leading the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to order Israel to change its actions to prevent the “real and imminent risk” of genocide. The UN Human Rights Council and independent UN experts have called on all states to cease the sale and transfer of weapons to Israel immediately, or else risk complicity in war crimes or acts of genocide. Although Parliament voted in March 2024 in support of ending arms transfers to Israel, Canada’s actions to date have been limited and insufficient, allowing weapons to continue to flow to Israel. Canada cannot continue to export arms to Israel and maintain a close working relationship with the Israeli military so long as it is involved in egregious violations of international humanitarian law. Canada must use its diplomatic and economic leverage vis-a-vis Israel’s defense and security establishment to bring an immediate end to the violence.Continue reading -

Stop Ontario’s anti-Palestinian Persecution
At the direction of the Ford government’s secretive and Orwellian named “Hate Crimes Working Group” (HCWG), police in Ontario have intensified their crackdowns and suppression of the Palestinian community and its allies, violating Charter rights. On November 18, Ottawa Police illegally blocked a planned peaceful march, arrested six organizers that evening and imposed draconian bail conditions. This adds to a dangerous trend of over-policing the Palestinian solidarity movement under the pretext of hate crime enforcement, with Ontario police and crown prosecutors using these measures to persecute Palestinian Canadians for opposing Israel’s genocide and Canadian companies profiteering from it.Continue readingTell Trudeau: Support the ICC, Arrest Netanyahu!
The possibility of holding Israeli leaders accountable for war crimes in Gaza has never been closer. After months of delay, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has finally issued warrants for the arrest of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for crimes against humanity. As a signatory to the Rome Statute, Canada is legally obliged to support the court’s rulings and arrest Netanyahu if he comes to Canada. While Trudeau did not promise to arrest Netanyahu, he did state that Canada would abide by the ICC’s regulations and rulings. Not surprisingly, pro-Israel groups are now pressuring Trudeau to oppose the ICC ruling and abandon its commitments under international law.Continue reading -
