CJPME is looking for highly motivated individual who is passionate about CJPME’s human rights mission and who wants to play a major role in the growth and influence of CJPME.

CJPME is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to empower Canadians of all backgrounds to promote justice, development and peace in the Middle East, and here at home in Canada.  CJPME is a national, independent, non-partisan Canadian organization at the forefront of promoting human rights and justice for all peoples in the Middle East, and Canadians of Middle East origin. 

CJPME is a small organization requiring a dedicated individual who can help organize many of the administrative processes of the organization.  Candidates who are multi-lingual provide an extra benefit, as CJPME’s customers speak English, French and often Arabic.  The qualified individual will report to CJPME’s President.

Job Description:

  • Organize and administer the organization’s core processes
    • Handle administrative inquiries and requests
    • Organize tasks and activities around the office
    • Manage contact/donor information in organization database
    • Manage one-on-one communications with contacts/donors
    • Manage organization’s general email account ([email protected])
    • Help carry out organizational mailings and related tasks (data preparation, letters, mail merges)
    • Manage purchases of required office supplies
    • Oversee office assets
    • Help create an office environment which is motivating and efficient
  • Perform financial administration, with support and guidance from accountant and president
    • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping
    • Manage payroll activities
    • Administer automated donation processes (etransfer, void cheque, Canada Helps, etc.)
    • Manage donation “thank you” processes
    • Make payments (e.g. pay bills, write cheques, process expense reports, etc.)
    • Prepare deposits
    • Support organizational fundraising efforts
    • Help prepare financial reports
    • Help prepare organizational tax and related reporting requirements
    • Help make applications for non-profit exemptions (e.g. for software, etc.)
  • Support organizational compliance, licensing and applications
    • Help fulfill government compliance activities, including activities related to:
      • Corporations Canada and Entreprises de Québec
      • Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Québec
      • Payroll-related compliance, e.g. CNESST, CSST, etc.
    • Help fulfill other compliance activities, including activities related to:
      • Bank and credit cards
      • Other financial
    • Manage licensing of organizational products and services (e.g. telephone, Internet, eCommerce tools, media monitoring tools, podcast platforms, etc.)
    • Help make applications for government programs and related opportunities
  • Help maintain organization’s Internet presence and communications
    • Help make updates to organization’s Website
    • Help manage content on organization’s Website
    • Help organize and format mass email communications.
    • Perform communications and follow-up with Board members
    • Manage general communications with MPs and other policy contacts
    • Perform follow-up with allied organizations, MPs, vendors, customers, etc.
  • Assist with the organisation and hosting of CJPME’s events and speaking tours
    • Help coordinate the room booking, ticket processing, local team management, etc.
    • Participate in local Montreal-area organizational initiatives
    • Help coordinate volunteers at CJPME’s events and parliamentary delegations
  • Coordinate with CJPME volunteers and interns
    • Serve as initial point of contact for volunteers
    • Reach out to volunteers and coordinate volunteer-day activities
    • Perform administration for intern program
  • Help format multi-lingual documents (English/French)
    • Review automated translations to French, and make fixes according to organizational guide
    • Help prepare multi-lingual documents.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Solid, hands-on, office experience
    • Excellent customer relations skills, in-person and over the phone
    • Organized with a high degree of attention to details.
    • High integrity. Humble: not afraid to ask questions
    • Strong organizing abilities
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to interface and engage with diverse volunteer and donor groups
    • Strong experience with all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Helpful, but not required:
    • University or post-secondary education
    • Language skills in French
    • Language skills in Arabic
    • Experience with Sage 50 (formerly Simply Accounting)
