Montreal, November 28, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is expressing deep concern over the circulation of unfounded allegations targeting Palestinian Canadians in a widely-shared news article by Global News. The article, “The Canadians in Hamas: The operative, leader and financier,” advances sweeping allegations about “450 people” with supposed Hamas “ties” in Canada based almost entirely on a single unnamed intelligence source. These issues are repeated in a broadcast segment. Montreal, November 10, 2025 – Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) today released a new report, The Toll of Intent: Looking at the Genocidal impact of Israel’s assault on Gaza, which synthesizes existing data to project that between 14% and 20% of Gaza's pre-October 7, 2023, population (approximately 341,000–480,800 Palestinians) could ultimately be killed as a result of Israel's operations and the subsequent catastrophic conditions by 2030 without urgent intervention from Canada and its allies. The report uses existing medical estimates and modelling to define various projections of Palestinian deaths for the different possible outcomes of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. The report concludes that the case that Israel has committed genocide is strong and supported by a growing body of scholarly and grey literature from the UN and NGOs. Continue reading

Montreal, October 31, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) welcomes the decision of an Ontario court to dismiss a complaint against the University of Windsor over its agreement with the student-led Palestinian solidarity encampment (“Palestine Liberation Zone”). Pro-Israel lobby group Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) had sought to strike down the agreement over its provision to refrain from partnerships with Israeli institutions, but the court rejected CIJA’s argument that a boycott of Israel is discriminatory. CJPME views this decision as affirmation of the right of universities to pursue an academic boycott of Israel, and hopes that this will embolden the academic community across Canada to adopt similar measures in support of the Palestinian people. Montreal, October 30, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is urging Canada to halt the export of military goods to the United Arab Emirates amid concerns that it may be diverting Canadian weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries in Sudan. The UAE, a destination for millions of dollars in Canadian weapons, is known to be illicitly arming the RSF which is accused of genocide. Moreover, Canadian weapons linked to the UAE have been discovered to be used by the RSF, specifically in El Fasher, where the group recently massacred over 2,000 people. Montreal, October 22, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) welcomes today’s advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Israel’s obligations to provide aid to Gaza, and urges the Canadian government to express its full support for the court’s findings. The ICJ concluded that Israel, as an occupying power and UN member, is obliged under international law to ensure the basic needs of the Palestinian population and must not use starvation as a weapon of war. CJPME urges Canada to urgently sanction Israel for its ongoing starvation policies against the Palestinian people and support subsequent efforts by the United Nations to force Israel’s compliance with international law.
