CJPME warns of efforts to revive violent, extremist anti-Palestinian group in Canada

Montreal, December 10, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is raising the alarm over a recent Toronto Sun column by Joe Warmington which notes that the “re-introduction” of the far-right and anti-Palestinian Jewish Defence League (JDL) in Canada is “very close,” and sympathetically claims that “It’s getting harder to disagree with those arguing for such help.” CJPME condemns Warmington’s apparent endorsement of the JDL’s revival, which comes amid a rise in disturbing far-right pro-Israel activity. On Human Rights Day: Global Coalition Calls for Immediate Sanctions Over Deliberate Destruction of Gaza’s Civilian Infrastructure

BRUSSELS, OTTAWA, and LONDON, December 10, 2025 — International member organizations and endorsers of the Global Sanctions Coalition (GSC) have submitted coordinated recommendations to the Governments of Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, calling for the immediate imposition of targeted sanctions against three individuals, and their associated entities, implicated in colluding with the Israeli military in the widescale destruction of civilian property in Gaza. In response to the slow-down of western sanctions against Israel, and the unprecedented US sanctions on human rights groups and advocates, civil society organizations from various countries have united to embrace the power of economic sanctions and to demand long-overdue measures in response to atrocities in Gaza. CJPME condemns Munk Debates' exclusion of journalist and apparent collaboration between police and Zionist vigilante group

Montreal, December 04, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME)  strongly condemns the denial of entry to award-winning journalist Samira Mohyeddin at the recent Munk Debate in Toronto, despite her membership and lawful possession of two tickets. Mohyeddin frequently reports on issues related to Israel and Palestine, while the event itself featured Israeli speakers debating the merits of a Palestinian state. Her deliberate exclusion, carried out by the Managing Director without clear justification, therefore represents a disturbing act of institutional censorship. Continue reading

CJPME alarmed by viral article making unverified and sensational claims linking Canadians to Hamas

Montreal, November 28, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is expressing deep concern over the circulation of unfounded allegations targeting Palestinian Canadians in a widely-shared news article by Global News. The article, “The Canadians in Hamas: The operative, leader and financier,” advances sweeping allegations about “450 people” with supposed Hamas “ties” in Canada based almost entirely on a single unnamed intelligence source. These issues are repeated in a broadcast segment. CJPME warns that such sensational and weakly substantiated claims risk fuelling anti-Palestinian racism and contributing to an already dangerous climate of fear and discrimination. New CJPME report projects up to 20% of Gaza's population will likely be killed

Montreal, November 10, 2025 – Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) today released a new report, The Toll of Intent: Looking at the Genocidal impact of Israel’s assault on Gaza, which synthesizes existing data to project that between 14% and 20% of Gaza's pre-October 7, 2023, population (approximately 341,000–480,800 Palestinians) could ultimately be killed as a result of Israel's operations and the subsequent catastrophic conditions by 2030 without urgent intervention from Canada and its allies. The report uses existing medical estimates and modelling to define various projections of Palestinian deaths for the different possible outcomes of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. The report concludes that the case that Israel has committed genocide is strong and supported by a growing body of scholarly and grey literature from the UN and NGOs. Continue reading

CJPME welcomes legal victory for Israel boycott at UWindsor

Montreal, October 31, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) welcomes the decision of an Ontario court to dismiss a complaint against the University of Windsor over its agreement with the student-led Palestinian solidarity encampment (“Palestine Liberation Zone”). Pro-Israel lobby group Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) had sought to strike down the agreement over its provision to refrain from partnerships with Israeli institutions, but the court rejected CIJA’s argument that a boycott of Israel is discriminatory. CJPME views this decision as affirmation of the right of universities to pursue an academic boycott of Israel, and hopes that this will embolden the academic community across Canada to adopt similar measures in support of the Palestinian people. Canada must halt arm exports to the UAE and stop fueling genocide in Sudan

Montreal, October 30, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is urging Canada to halt the export of military goods to the United Arab Emirates amid concerns that it may be diverting Canadian weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries in Sudan. The UAE, a destination for millions of dollars in Canadian weapons, is known to be illicitly arming the RSF which is accused of genocide. Moreover, Canadian weapons linked to the UAE have been discovered to be used by the RSF, specifically in El Fasher, where the group recently massacred over 2,000 people. CJPME urges an immediate suspension of military exports to the UAE and an investigation into whether Canadian weapons are fueling genocide in Sudan. Continue reading
