Canada must halt arm exports to the UAE and stop fueling genocide in Sudan
Montreal, October 30, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is urging Canada to halt the export of military goods to the United Arab Emirates amid concerns that it may be diverting Canadian weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries in Sudan. The UAE, a destination for millions of dollars in Canadian weapons, is known to be illicitly arming the RSF which is accused of genocide. Moreover, Canadian weapons linked to the UAE have been discovered to be used by the RSF, specifically in El Fasher, where the group recently massacred over 2,000 people. CJPME urges an immediate suspension of military exports to the UAE and an investigation into whether Canadian weapons are fueling genocide in Sudan.
Canada must sanction Israel in support of ICJ decision on Gaza
Montreal, October 22, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) welcomes today’s advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Israel’s obligations to provide aid to Gaza, and urges the Canadian government to express its full support for the court’s findings. Israel’s Illegal War on Iran
CJPME Factsheet 251, published June 2025: Amid ongoing diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding its nuclear program, Israel launched airstrikes on June 13, 2025, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and civilian infrastructure. Without evidence, Israel claimed the assault was a “pre-emptive” measure to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. In the first week alone, Israel’s strikes have killed hundreds of Iranian civilians.[1] Iran responded with ballistic missile attacks, triggering a series of escalating exchanges which could lead to a catastrophic regional war.
CJPME welcomes Carney’s sanctions on Israeli ministers as a first step for accountability
Montreal, June 10, 2025 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) welcomes Canada’s targeted sanctions against far-right Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, which were announced today in a joint statement with the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Norway. Foreign Minister Anand says that the sanctions are in response to “inciting violence against Palestinians” and rhetoric calling for Palestinians to be “driven from their homes.” The specific measures include asset freezes and bans on entering the country. CJPME urges Canada not to focus on a few extremist individuals, but to broaden its sanctions to include additional Israeli political and military leaders who are responsible for crimes against humanity and genocide.

Lack of Adherence to Resolution 1701
CJPME Factsheet 29, published May, 2007: The end of the Destruction of Lebanon – the 34-day assault by Israel in July and August of 2006 – was marked by the passage of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Later in 2006, the Security Council requested quarterly reports from the UN Secretary-General on the implementation of the resolution.Following the Secretary-General’s third such report on March 14th, 2007, it is apparent that neither Israel nor Hezbollah are fully respecting the post-cease-fire requirements of 1701.
