Please contact your MPs to support anti-Islamophobia motion

Email-580.pngTomorrow (Tuesday, March 21), Parliament will vote on MP Iqra Khalid’s proposed motion M-103.  This motion calls on Parliament to condemn Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination.  The motion also calls for studies on how to address the problem of growing Islamophobia in Canada.  Such a motion will help raise awareness and combat racism against Muslims in Canada.

White supremacy is on the rise, bigotry is being portrayed as freedom of speech, and anti-semitism is on the verge of a comeback. Those are not things we only hear about in news from a far away land. It has sadly become a common thing to hear about harassment to Muslims, specially veiled women who can easily be identified. Moreover, there is a strong rhetoric that certain groups should “go back”, as if they are less worthy of this country than other citizens and residents.
