With Quebec’s general elections fast approaching, many Quebecers wonder where the main party leaders stand on Palestine. On September 23rd, leaders of the five major Quebec parties will be at the Maison de Radio-Canada in Montreal for the final and most viewed debate, moderated by journalist Patrice Roy.
Out of all the provinces, Quebec has the lowest positive view of Israel. Yet, the Quebec government has not done anything since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza. On the contrary, they opened a Quebec bureau in Tel-Aviv, refused to extend healthcare for Gaza refugees settled in Quebec, and have continued to invest pension funds in companies complicit in the genocide and the occupation.
CJPME has joined the initiating organizations of the Votons Palestine campaign to ask of all major party candidates to pledge to a 4-demand platform that would end Quebec’s complicity. With more than 250 civil society organizations and 1,500 Quebec artists endorsing the campaign, it is time for candidates to answer the questions of thousands of Quebecers.
Join us in calling on Patrice Roy and Radio-Canada to question Quebec party leaders about Palestine.
