It is our last chance to demand that Canadian lawmakers drop Bill C-9, and reject pro-Israel efforts to restrict Charter-protected freedoms, including criticism of Israel.

Bill C-9, a law demanded by pro-Israel groups, threatens to repress the Palestine solidarity movement. This includes dangerous restrictions on the ability of Canadians to confront Israeli war criminals on Canadian soil or to expose the use of Jewish communal institutions as venues for illegal land sales. Without shame, they are doing this at the exact moment Israel and the US are devastating Lebanon and Iran and continue to restrict lifesaving access to Gaza.

Israel’s foreign interference strategy in Canada is to emotionally misdirect Canadians into repressing critics of Israel by dangerously conflating human-rights based activism with hateful conduct. Israel wants heavy restrictions put on those that oppose genocide and regime change wars.

In the face of Israel’s campaign of foreign interference, we need to send a strong message to the Canadian government that we will not stand for any collusion, witting or unwitting, with Israel to undermine the Charter of Rights and Freedoms of Canadians. We will not enact Israel’s agenda of transnational repression.
