Standing Strong for Justice:
This quarter, CJPME solidified its role as a leading voice for Palestinian rights in Canada, challenging government complicity and holding national media accountable for harmful narratives. With rigorous research, strategic advocacy, and coordinated campaigns, we transformed public outrage into measurable impact. We shaped debate, influenced policy, and advanced human rights. Thanks to the dedication of our supporters, every letter, campaign, and action amplified Palestinian voices and produced tangible results. This report highlights what CJPME and its community achieved from July to September 2025.
Driving Change This Quarter:
A major milestone this quarter was our collaboration with MP Jenny Kwan to develop and introduce the No More Loopholes Act (Bill C-233), closing the loopholes that allow Canadian-made weapons to reach Israel via the United States. The CJPME leadership participated in two press conferences on Parliament Hill alongside MP Kwan to announce and introduce this bill, which will be debated in Parliament soon. We also launched CJPME’s Lobby Corps, empowering our supporters to engage directly with parliamentarians and strengthen our advocacy impact. Our work reshaped media coverage, corrected misinformation, and demonstrated how organized public pressure can directly influence Canadian law, government policy, and public debate.
Here’s a snapshot of what we accomplished together this quarter:
Media Accountability Project (MAP)
This quarter, CJPME’s Media Accountability Project made concrete gains in pushing back against biased reporting and ensuring Palestinian narratives were accurately represented. From headline corrections in national outlets to the publication of a groundbreaking book, our interventions are shifting how Palestine is covered in Canada.
Launching When Genocide Wasn’t News:
- CJPME co-edited a groundbreaking anthology exposing systemic Canadian media erasure of Palestinian suffering. The launch event engaged journalists and readers, amplifying public understanding of media complicity.
Major Media Wins:
- National NewsMedia Council (NNC) victory (September 2025): CJPME won a NNC case against the National Post and the Jewish News Syndicate. The National Post was forced to edit a piece about Hamdan Ballal’s beating and arrest, which they had misrepresented. The NNC also urged the Post to flag JNS content for readers, affirming CJPME’s alarm about its propagandistic bias.
- Globe and Mail Headline Correction (July 9, 2025): CJPME successfully pressured The Globe to revise its headline from “people in Gaza” to “Palestinians in Gaza,” restoring Palestinian identity in public discourse.
- Contextualizing Anti-Palestinian Racism (Aug 10, 2025): CJPME’s media analysis was published, framing assaults on Muslim demonstrators within the context of anti-Palestinian racism and expanding public recognition of this specific form of discrimination.
- Postmedia Correction on Gaza Journalist Killing (Aug 11, 2025): Following CJPME’s advocacy, the National Post updated its misleading headline regarding the murder of journalist Anas Al-Sharif, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated public pressure on media outlets.
- The Suburban Letter-to-the-Editor (Sept 17, 2025): CJPME successfully corrected misinformation framing Palestinian activism as antisemitic, ensuring accurate reporting reached The Suburban’s readership.
Ongoing Impact:
- Media alerts generated active citizen engagement, including submissions to the National Post regarding Anas Al-Sharif and targeted editorial responses in the Globe & Mail, helping shift public narratives toward accountability and fair reporting.
- CJPME submitted a formal complaint to Global News about hiring B’nai Brith Ambassador Ben Mulroney to host The West Block. If Global doesn’t take corrective action, we plan on advancing the complaint to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.
Press Releases Highlights
CJPME issued 12 press releases this quarter, amplifying urgent issues and putting pressure on policymakers, journalists, and the public. These releases exposed Canada’s complicity, condemned rights violations, and demanded accountability, ensuring Palestine remained a central issue in Canadian discourse. Among these were:
- Canadian Arms to Israel: Exposed shipments of Canadian military goods to Israel amid the Gaza genocide, demanding sanctions and a full arms embargo.
- Killing of Al Jazeera Journalists: Condemned Israel’s targeted execution of Anas al-Sharif and colleagues, urging Canadian journalists to speak out against complicity in propaganda.
- Concentration Camp Warning: Alerted the world to Israel’s plans to forcibly transfer Gaza Palestinians to a “humanitarian city,” calling for Canadian condemnation.
- Recognition of Palestinian State: Welcomed PM Carney’s announcement but emphasized the need for an arms embargo and sanctions to make recognition meaningful.
- Arms Embargo & Public Opinion: Shared Angus Reid poll revealing majority support of Canadians for halting Canadian arms exports to Israel, strengthening advocacy campaigns.
- Coalition calls for sanctions on WZO and Israeli Minister Strook: Demanded the government to impose sanctions on the World Zionist Organization and Minister Orit Strook for their material support for illegal land theft in the West Bank.
Campaigns
This quarter, CJPME’s campaigns advanced key policy and advocacy goals, focusing on closing loopholes in arms exports, challenging biased trade agreements, and defending advocates of Palestinian rights. Each initiative helped raise the bar in Canadian policy discussions and built momentum for long-term structural change.
- Closing the U.S. Arms Loophole: CJPME’s advocacy built nationwide momentum for MP Jenny Kwan’s No More Loopholes Act, catalyzing parliamentary debate and public awareness on Canada’s indirect arms exports to Israel.
- Cancelling CIFTA: CJPME renewed its longstanding calls for Canada to cancel the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement, which facilitates Israel’s illegal annexation of occupied Palestinian territory.
- Lobby Corps Launch: This quarter, CJPME established Canada’s first national volunteer program for direct MP engagement, the Lobby Corps, raising more than $68,000 to train advocates and translate grassroots pressure into influence in Parliament. To date, we’ve completed five training sessions with nearly 80 members, marking the successful “basic training” of our first cohort. We’re particularly excited to share that Lobby Corps members have already made inroads with the Bloc Québécois, a key party in Parliament with pro-Palestine sympathies and the potential to become a powerful ally for our movement. With the core training series now complete, CJPME will focus on recruiting and developing a second cohort and expanding the network nationwide, empowering even more Canadians to engage their MPs directly and effectively. Donate now to help us reach our target.
Webinars & Events
CJPME’s public programming this quarter brought together experts, activists, and community members to dissect policy, expose injustice, and empower Canadians to take action. These events deepened public understanding and built collective strategies for advocacy.

- Coverage in the Toronto Star and other outlets on RCMP war crimes investigations reinforced CJPME’s role as an authoritative source and applied pressure for governmental accountability.
On The Horizon:
As we move into the final quarter of 2025, CJPME is preparing for a new wave of advocacy and action to build on this quarter’s gains. Here’s what’s ahead:

- Global Sanctions Coalition: CJPME is a founding member of the newly formed Global Sanctions Coalition that is developing targeted economic sanctions proposals and filing sanctions requests with the governments of the EU, UK, and Canada.
- No More Loopholes Act: CJPME will continue to lead efforts to pass Bill C-233, the No More Loopholes Act, in Parliament and end the complicity of Canada’s arms industry in Israel’s genocide.
