Rev. Alex Awad - Palestinian Memories: a palestinian christian perspective on the Arab-Israeli conflict - October 2013

CJPME is delighted to invite you hear Palestinian Christian leader and author Rev. Alex Awad Tuesday, Oct. 22 in downtown Montreal. Rev. Awad is Dean of Students at Bethlehem Bible College, Pastor of East Jerusalem Baptist Church, and Director of the Shepherd Society. He is also the author of Palestinian Memories: The Story of a Palestinian Mother and Her People. In his book, Awad shares his family's struggle after his father is shot in 1948 in front of their home in East Jerusalem, and his mother's superhuman struggle to raise seven children on her own. Miko Peled - Beyond Zionism, Hope for peace in Palestine-Israel - Septembre 2013

Israeli-American peace activist Miko Peled, author of "The General's Son -- Journey of an Israeli in Palestine", gives a series of lectures hosted by CJPME in seven Canadian cities, September 30 to October 8. Peled, son of a prominent Israeli General and uncle of a suicide bombing victim, will discuss the arguments in favour of the “one-state” solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.   Continue reading

The writers include: two-time Governor General 's Award winner Nino Ricci, Wayson Choy, Terry Fallis, Lee Maracle, Giller winner Joseph Boyden and Kyo Maclear. These six writers, along with Yann Martel, Michael Ondaatje, and Margaret Atwood, are among the over 100 Canadian authors who co-signed the Canadian Writers' Open Letter to Israeli and Canadian leaders this summer.
